Fifteen Years in Prison for Deadly Drunk Driving Crash
“KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Felix Solano-Gallardo, 19, was sentenced Friday in Jackson County Court to 15 years in prison for killing a mother and her 11-year-old daughter in a drunk driving accident that happened on I-435 near 63rd Street on the Fourth of July in 2011.
In January, Solano-Gallardo pleaded guilty to two counts of involuntary manslaughter for causing the head-on crash that killed 44-year-old Diane Bronson and her daughter, Anna.
Solano-Gallardo faced up to 35 years in prison, and the prosecution asked the judge for a sentence of 24 years.. Police said he had been driving the wrong way for 14 miles, first on I-70 and then on I-435 and his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit.
Buddy Bronson, Diane’s husband, told the court that Diane and their daughter were inseparable, and says the only justice in the tragic case may be that they died together.
Solano-Gallardo, who does not have documentation to be in the United States, refused to tell police his name after the accident and has identified himself since then as both Felix Solano-Gallardo and Luis Solano-Gallardo.
He will serve his prison sentence and then be deported to Mexico.”
